On April 18, 2024, ASEANAPOL Secretariat Executive Director, Police Colonel David Martinez Vinluan, accompanied officials from Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Mr. Ravish Shah and Mr. Atish P. Barot from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, for a courtesy call to Royal Malaysia Police Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain at the KPN Meeting Room, Bukit Aman Headquarters.
The purpose of the visit was to
discuss the offer of several programs by RRU to PDRM citizens at the university, in addition to informing about several short-term programs available online for free. Also present were Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr. Bakri Zainal Abidin, ASEANAPOL Director for Police Services, Police Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Ngoc, ASEANAPOL Director for Plans & Programmes DCP Alzafny Ahmad, Secretary of Police Malaysia, SAC Dato' Pahlawan Suparamaniam Ramasamy, Chief of Loyal KPN (International Relations) Bukit Aman.
During the meeting, the RRU officials briefed RMP IGP about the ASEANAPOL and RRU Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed in December 2023 in India, aimed at collaborating on educational and training programs to enhance the skills of ASEAN police officers in handling transnational organized crime. The RRU representatives shared details about their institution, which focuses on security and police training and is based in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. They emphasized their commitment to becoming a leading security education center in India, emphasizing high-quality education, research, and training in strategic security areas.
The visit was an important step in strengthening collaboration between ASEANAPOL, RRU, and the Royal Malaysia Police. It provided an opportunity to discuss mutual interests and explore avenues for further cooperation in enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement agencies in the ASEAN region.
