12th September 2023 marks another portentous calendar of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat when the Commissioner General of Korean National Police Agency (KNPA), H.E Hee Keun YOON made the official visit to Secretariat’s office together with his distinguished entourage.
They were then welcome by the Pol. Brigadier General Zaw Lin Tun, the Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat and its Directors, Officers and Staff of ASEANAPOL Secretariat.
The official visit commenced with the Executive Director expressing his sincere appreciation and gratitude to H.E Commissioner General Hee Keun YOON, who had spared time of his busy schedule to visit the office of the Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur. He then shared his utmost appreciation to KNPA as the esteemed Dialogue Partners to ASEANAPOL for the countless and diverse contribution to ASEANAPOL in enhance its role in ensure the organization will remains relevant as the notable regional policing stakeholder and renowned center for strategic cooperation in South East Asia.
With the aim to further expand the police-to-police cooperation between both organizations, H.E Commissioner General Hee Keun YOON reiterated KNPA’s pledge of full support in endure the effort with others regional policing stakeholders in combatting transboundary crimes not limited to the regional issues of illicit drug trafficking, but also others related crime areas including capacity building initiative whilst leveraging the investigative assistance within interconnected security framework.
Whilst acknowledged the significance of bolstering strategic coordination and improving operational collaboration between both organizations, the Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat then propound the proposition of creating the policing strategies to identify the problem root and develop the solutions to address the issues / challenges stemming from the threats that vulnerable to the society amidst rapid-changing crime landscape and technology nowadays.
The ASEANAPOL Secretariat is truly honoured with the presence of the Chief of KNPA, Republic of Korea and re-enforced the commitment to continue enhance its role as the lead actor in coordinating, cooperating and collaborating together with its existing mutual strategic partners in lifting ASEANAPOL to a greater height towards accomplishing its vision of “TOGETHER WE KEEP THIS REGION SAFE”.
